Well, we have gone and returned from out Texas adventure.
Travel was horrible, let me tell you Continental sucks something big! Alaska was as usual but the planes were packed. On our departure alone there were 11 infants traveling in lap. It was like the mini-van from hell. Fun part was Em was on the plane and sat in front of us, we tried to chat when we could but not much luck with all the crying and people passing for the bathroom.
Texas was great, weather was miserable but not cold. I was barefoot most of the time except when we were going somewhere. It rained alot and even had a "cold front" which would have been perfect if not for the wind chill factor. I forgot about the wind.
The kids had a fabo time, it was so great to be able to just drop F-city off at Nana's house and have free time. There were times when each of the kids were with an Aunt or grandma. It was an amazing break. Something we rarely get in Fairbanks unless we dish out some serious cash. Or its a school day and Robert and I are skip work.
Had lunch with Karen everday, visited lots of family and went to UT to sight see. Mateo was sure we would be visiting Colt McCoy but I had to explain to him they were on Christmas break and no one was home. The campus was beautiful as always, took picks of Mateo at the stadium and riding Bevo. As soon as I can I will upload tons of photos.
Christmas Eve was fun had a party at Karen's house with all my family there...it was awesome. Kids everywhere, pretty dresses (mateo, alej and jamie are the only boys of 8 kids) lots of noise and toys. We somehow ended up with a Slinky in our suitcase when we returned...I am not sure how it belonged to. :)
Christmas day was just as fun ~ oh the food we ate! Grandma Janie out did herself. I practically sat in front of the gravy bowl with rolls in hand until I was full.
Leaving was sad. I really had a wonderful visit with my sister, I hadn't realized how much I missed her and how funny she is. F-city bonded with her and promised to stay in touch. We took tons of pictures that we will be looking at for awhile.
The kids want to come back soon, my Austin cousins promised boat on the lake time if we come when it is warmer...and everyone asked, "When are you coming home?"
Such a hard question, though our hearts are in Texas our home is in Alaska...for now.
Happy post-holiday!
