Eight years ago Robert and I sold all our wordly belongings, packed up 2 toddlers and headed to Alaska. Since then our lives have never been the same!

Ambulance Ride
It's been about 5 days since the incident and I think I can finally write about the event without falling apart.
We were in Anchorage this weekend for the Zane Cup Tournament. It was the first game and CC's team was kicking some serious butt! We were up by 5 or 6 and it had been a pretty tough game. The other team was losing but not without a fight.
I was standing on the sidelines joking and watching the game with Loli, talking to the other parents and I barely saw what happened. One second I am yelling...go CC you got it and the next we are all just standing there in silence trying to figure out why Felicity is laying on the ground not moving.
She was right in front of the goal when it happened, ready to kick and she was kneed pretty hard by the other team while she was in mid-kick.
My little girl wasn't getting up, a parent that was an EMT ran onto the field and suddenly she was surrounded by all these people. I stood nervously on the side rocking Loli back in forth in his stroller...waiting. It had been five minutes...I could hear her crying from the sidelines.
What seemed like an eternity they finally wave me over...I pushed Loli over to someone...I don't know who honestly and I ran out on the field-mini Spiderman backpack on and all!
Felicity was in serious pain, I could tell right away but what was wrong...I see the way they are holding her leg and I get what they think is wrong...I ask where?...and they say...Mom, we think its broke above the knee. She and I both start to cry, her more so then me...I tell her I'm sorry and that we will get through this.
Everything went very fast after this...I called Robert and told him get here, she is hurt and is on the way to the ER...I fail to give him details...my bad considering he is 382 miles away and will just jump in the truck and come...I have Missy call him and give him a quick run down. My iphone died...I am out of contact with him and the rest of the world, someone I barely know...Todd hands me his cell phone and says keep it...use it as much as you want...I'll take your car to the ER along with Loli...I am thankful....cry some more.
By now she has been placed in traction and says it's easing the pain, still in a lot of pain they ask her if she wants to say bye to her team. Eight very scared little girls all dressed in red Cyclone jerseys run over, some with tears...we love you CC, we'll miss you, we'll win the next game for you...they hug her as best they can and wave goodbye...
We head out into the ambulance they show me the guest door and I hope inside and wait for her to be placed. I am so nervous and sick...I need someone to talk to...my first option is sitting at an airport in Denver or already on the plane...second option doesn't answer so I hastily make a call to work...letting them know I may not be in next week...brief and not a thorough description of what has happened. I just needed to tell someone, I need to talk. I can only call numbers I know by memory...so no T, no Mom.
With tears and a scream they manage to get the IV in and drug her up...almost instantly she becomes super talkative...she is in shock though so they throw multiple blankets on her as she rambles on about who knows what.
We get to Providence quickly, Todd and the Tahoe are right behind us the whole way, I can see Coach and Loli, I am very relieved.
There she is seen pretty quickly, she is X-rayed and told it was not broke...what a relief. It is a torn or sprained muscle she is expected to heal completely within a few weeks. No crutches, no bandages nothing...out she goes!
It's been 5 days and she has moments where you would never know she was hurt but last night she looked at us with tears and said...my leg hurts about an 8...pretty high on the pain level. So we iced it down and started back on the ibuprofen...
I an thankful for all those that helped me during this time, it was scary experience to face alone with out my hubby. By the way he made it to to Anderson before he turned around to head back to Fairbanks...he must have been flying...to see his little girl and hold my hand.

Saturday Morning Peace
Despite all the sleep issues i have had over the last month i relish waking up at 7am or earlier on Saturday mornings. It is my time, all are asleep or Robert is at work and I am all ALONE. Sometimes I Facebook-but really not much happens at night so there's nothing new to read. Sometimes I pick up an actual book with pages! Wow, what a concept now a days! I love the Kindle but there is nothing better than the feel of a paperback book that you have just bent the hell out of as the story line picked up.
Currently i am reading the Sookie Stackhouse Novels~ love them! So much fun and quick reads which are perfect for this full-time working, chauffeuring, cheerleader, caretaker mom. I just shove it in my purse and read when ever the mood hits--or a line -- or waiting to be called to the doctors office.
Something new i have been doing also, we are on serious spending boycott as so many of us are-no fun perks like magazines or itunes cards. :( So to satisfy my lust for decorating magazines when ever we so grocery shopping I pick the longest line at the check out and read a whole magazine before I'm done! I even have the kids on in on it, baby genius will read a Captain Underpants book, the older kids will read sports or food magz its awesome and everyone knows and understands that once we hit that conveyor belt it's books down and time to load up.
Back to Saturday-If i wake up extra early I may even work out but with the sleep deprivation lately it hasn't happened. I've stopped working from home during these Saturday--I makes me feel like i don't get away from work.
Last week I almost finished my BATH project-pics to come soon. I also finished the boys name letters-for their walls. Now all i have to do is prime and paint and rearrange and then hang the letters on the wall. Simple-HA! That will be a mid-winter adventure especially since big boy and baby genius can't agree on colors. Really? When did a 3 yr old ever get so much say in anything??
OK friends it's 910 and i am stilling enjoying only the sound of my keyboard clicking. Let me get back to work on one of those many unfinished art projects, hope you are spending your day doing something your really enjoy!
Ciao
